Ocean Water Quality Rain Advisory Issued for All Los Angeles County Beaches Through Thursday Noon

Monday, October 12, 2026 · City · GSM News

Los Angeles is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued an Ocean Water Quality Rain Advisory on Monday morning for all Los Angeles County beaches, in effect until noon Thursday.

Rainfall can carry bacteria and pollutants through storm drains and creeks into the ocean. Beach users are cautioned to avoid water contact for at least 72 hours after rainfall, the department said. The advisory could be extended if more rain falls.

Recorded information on beach conditions is available 24 hours a day on the county's beach hotline at 1-800-525-5662, and a map of impacted locations is available on the Public Health website.

The advisory follows weekend rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel, with scattered showers lingering across the Southland on Monday. Separately, a National Weather Service coastal flood advisory for Los Angeles and Orange county beaches remains in effect until 2 p.m. Tuesday.
