Meet the Irvine Candidates Forum Set for Oct. 17 at South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, Free and Open to the Public

Monday, October 12, 2026 · City · GSM News

Irvine is a city in Orange County, California. Irvine voters will have a chance to hear directly from City Council candidates: the 2026 Meet the Irvine Candidates Forum will be held on Saturday, October 17, at 2:30 p.m. at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, free and open to the public.

The forum is hosted by the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center and Irvine Watchdog, in partnership with 12 local nonprofit organizations. Norberto Santana, Jr., editor-in-chief and publisher of Voice of OC, will moderate.

Organizers say that, with the November 3 municipal election approaching, the forum offers voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates running for local office, fostering open dialogue, civic engagement and nonpartisan insight into each candidate's platform and vision for the city. Community members, voters and press representatives are encouraged to attend.

According to the City of Irvine, the Orange County Registrar of Voters began mailing ballots to all registered Irvine voters on October 5. Voters will elect a mayor for a two-year term, and residents in Districts 1, 5 and 6 will elect councilmembers for four-year terms. The ballot also includes Measure D, which would implement ranked-choice voting for mayoral and council elections after January 1, 2028. Vote Centers in Irvine begin opening on October 24.
