Banning is a city in Riverside County, California. Banning recorded the most rain in Riverside County from the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel, according to National Weather Service data released Monday. In the 48 hours from late Saturday morning to late Monday morning, Banning received 4.76 inches of precipitation, followed by neighboring Beaumont at 3.35 inches. The Riverside metropolitan area received about 1.3 inches, Palm Springs International Airport documented 1.16 inches, and the lowest countywide total was at Corona Municipal Airport, at 0.64 inches.

The Weather Service said heavy clouds and sporadic showers would remain over the inland region Monday as the storm system fully exits to the northeast, with clearing expected by the predawn hours Tuesday. Dry, sunny weather is forecast from Wednesday into next week.

Forecasters also noted that high pressure building over the Great Basin later this week will begin to establish Santa Ana conditions. Santa Ana winds are characteristically dry and gusty and typically raise fire-weather concerns across the inland valleys.
