Monday, October 12, 2026 · Technology · GSM News

Vice Premier He Lifeng met Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the afternoon of October 12, Xinhua reported. He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China is deepening reform and high-level opening-up and building a market-oriented, law-based and internationalised business environment, welcoming U.S. and other global technology companies to take part in China's high-quality development and deepen cooperation.

Cook said Apple remains optimistic about the Chinese market over the long term, will continue to increase investment in China, and is willing to deepen supply-chain cooperation with Chinese companies and participate in China's high-quality development.

Chinese media reported that Cook arrived in Guangzhou on October 10 and visited the Apple Tianhuan Square store, and that Guangdong provincial officials met his delegation there on October 11. China is both Apple's largest assembly base and its second-largest market by revenue, making Cook's visits closely watched signals in U.S.–China economic relations. No further details of the meeting were disclosed.
