Historic Moment at Fort Worth Zoo: First-Ever Sumatran Tiger Cubs Make Public Debut

Monday, October 12, 2026 · City · GSM News

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth is a city in Tarrant County, Texas. The Fort Worth Zoo has a historic new reason to visit: Barani and Malu, the first Sumatran tiger cubs ever born at the zoo, have made their public debut.

The cubs can now be seen daily in the zoo's "Predators of Asia and Africa" tiger habitat at 1989 Colonial Parkway, Fort Worth. With fewer than 650 wild Sumatran tigers remaining in the world, every birth of the critically endangered species is a milestone for conservation.

The timing is perfect for fall break. Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD are on fall break Oct. 8–12, with other DFW districts out Oct. 12–16. From Oct. 23–25, the zoo will host "Boo at the Zoo," a family trick-or-treating event with magic shows, painted pumpkins, and costumed characters. And on Half-Price Wednesdays, admission is half off — saving up to $11 per ticket — with kids 2 and under always free.
