The Florida Gators landed a major recruiting win: five-star wide receiver Easton Royal announced October 11 that he is flipping his commitment from the University of Texas to Florida. The elite prospect from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans had been committed to Texas since last November but changed his mind after two unofficial visits to Gainesville, and has canceled planned visits to LSU and Texas, shutting down his recruitment.

Royal ranks No. 6 nationally in the USA TODAY composite rankings. As a junior he posted 2,095 all-purpose yards and 29 touchdowns, earning Louisiana Class 5A Offensive Player of the Year honors. He is the second five-star recruit head coach Jon Sumrall has landed this cycle, following interior offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, ranked No. 3 nationally.

According to 247Sports, Florida's 2027 recruiting class now ranks No. 11 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC, with 11 of its 26 commits ranked in the national top 200. Despite an up-and-down season on the field, Sumrall's recruiting performance has been impressive, stockpiling elite talent for the program's future.
