American Taylor Knibb Wins Women's Ironman World Championship in Hawaii

American Taylor Knibb, 28, won the women's Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, on October 10 in 8 hours, 36 minutes, 29 seconds, ending a drought for U.S. women at the event dating back to 2022.
The race delivered late drama: defending champion Solveig Løvseth of Norway, leading by nearly 90 seconds, began to wobble with less than a mile to go and fell twice; after getting back up both times, she went down a third time and was passed by several athletes, finishing eighth. Knibb seized the moment — one year after Løvseth had overtaken her in similar circumstances to deny her the title.
Knibb's splits were 52:55 for the 2.4-mile swim, 4:40:07 for the 112-mile bike, and 2:57:46 for the 26.2-mile marathon. She becomes just the third woman in history to win both the Ironman World Championship and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in the same year.
