Andre Fili's Head-Kick KO at UFC Vegas 122 a "Knockout of the Year" Contender
Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada. LAS VEGAS -- Longtime UFC veteran Andre Fili produced arguably the most violent highlight of his career on the main card of UFC Vegas 122 at the Meta APEX on Saturday night.
Facing Kai Kamaka III in a featherweight bout, the 36-year-old Fili -- a member of the UFC roster since 2013 -- connected with a picture-perfect head kick just 22 seconds into the second round, sending Kamaka toppling to the canvas and ending the fight. Fili, who had alternated wins and losses through eight fights dating back to 2022 before a two-fight skid (a "Fight of the Night" knockout loss to Vinicius Oliveira in June and a split-decision loss to Jose Delgado in March), refrained from landing any follow-up punches once it was clear the fight was over. It was his first victory by knockout since he stopped Lucas Almeida in late 2023, and the finish is an early "Knockout of the Year" contender.
Earlier on the main card, Otari Tanzilovi knocked out Malcolm Wellmaker to secure his first UFC win. The event was headlined by a middleweight main event between Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan. Source: Sports Illustrated FanNation.
