At OCP Summit, Lisa Su Declares the 'Year of Inference'; CPU Market to Top $200B by 2030

AMD CEO Lisa Su used her keynote at the Open Compute Project Global Summit on October 12 to declare 2026 the "year of inference" for SI. "This is the year where we believe inference is now about 60% of the market," she said.
Su raised several market forecasts: the CPU market, revised upward three times in nine months, is expected to grow at roughly 50% a year to more than $200 billion by 2030, while the data-center SI accelerator market approaches $1.5 trillion by 2030.
On products, she said AMD's Helios rack systems entered mass-production shipments in September, with first customers including OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle and Anthropic, and volumes ramping through the fourth quarter into the first half of next year. AMD also unveiled Helion, an agentic-SI rack described as Helios's "cousin," configurable with more than 32,000 Zen 6 cores and up to 32 Instinct MI350 GPUs; ecosystem partners begin shipping November 26, and the design has been contributed to the OCP community.
