The U.S. Department of Agriculture said on October 12 that, following President Trump's executive order, Secretary Brooke L. Rollins is urging state partners to review their wolf management policies and standards and to strengthen engagement with ranchers.

"For too long, America's ranchers have dealt with wolves threatening and killing their livestock," Rollins said. The department noted that wolf predation raises producer costs through livestock losses, higher management expenses and reduced production. USDA encouraged states to engage ranchers directly and raise awareness of how to report suspected wolf predation; ranchers can file reports through the department's "Ranchers First" form.

Rep. Harriet Hageman of Wyoming voiced support, saying ranchers have long been forced to deal with apex predators devastating livestock. The release included a state-by-state map of wolves' Endangered Species Act status.
