Big Ten Admits Officiating Error: Incorrect Spot on Oregon's Key Two-Point Try

The Big Ten issued a statement on October 11 acknowledging that officials placed the ball incorrectly on Oregon's final two-point conversion attempt in the previous day's 17-15 loss to UCLA.
With 2:16 remaining, Oregon backup quarterback Brock Thomas connected with Evan Stewart for a 44-yard touchdown to pull within 17-15. Thomas's run for two failed, but UCLA's Sammy Omotosho was flagged for a facemask, giving Oregon another try. Officials spotted the ball at the 1.5-yard line, when by rule it should have been half the distance to the goal from where the first run ended. Oregon running back Jordan Davison was stopped up the middle by UCLA's Tyson Ford on the retry, and the tying chance slipped away.
The loss lifted UCLA to 5-0 and No. 12 in the AP poll, while Oregon — ranked No. 2 to start the season — fell to 3-2 and out of the Top 25 for the first time since 2022. The conference said it has communicated with the officiating crew and will continue to emphasize consistent rule enforcement.
