Jack Johnson Closes SoCal Leg of SURFILMUSIC Tour With Two Nights at Hollywood Bowl

LOS ANGELES — Jack Johnson closed out the Southern California leg of his SURFILMUSIC Tour with two nights at the Hollywood Bowl on October 10-11, according to Pollstar and BroadwayWorld. Instrumental duo Hermanos Gutierrez opened both shows.
The 43-date North American run, which kicked off June 26 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, marks Johnson's return to the road for the first time since 2022. The tour supports his new single "Hold On To The Light" featuring Hermanos Gutierrez — an early glimpse of the upcoming SURFILMUSIC soundtrack, scored by Johnson and Hermanos Gutierrez and co-produced with Mario Caldato Jr., who produced several of Johnson's albums including "In Between Dreams" and "Sleep Through the Static."
The companion documentary "SURFILMUSIC" chronicles Johnson's evolution from surfer to filmmaker to world-renowned musician, weaving through the making of his surf films "Thicker Than Water" (1999) and "The September Sessions" (2000), which launched his multi-platinum music career. The film features many of the surfers who appeared in the original films, including Kelly Slater, Rob Machado and the Malloy Brothers, and is set to debut next year.
The tour has visited many of North America's celebrated outdoor venues, including Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (July 7), Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village, Colorado (Sept. 2-3), and The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington (Sept. 26). The California run included the Greek Theatre in Berkeley (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), the Santa Barbara Bowl (Oct. 3-4), and two nights at the Hollywood Bowl (Oct. 10-11). Alongside Hermanos Gutierrez, Lake Street Dive and longtime friend G. Love have opened on many dates.
The 51-year-old Johnson has released seven studio albums and two live albums that have sold over 25 million copies worldwide since 2001. Environmental action remains central to his touring: in partnership with the Johnson Ohana Foundation, all net proceeds from platinum and premium ticketing directly support non-profits in each city, and $2 from every ticket benefits the environment — $1 to REVERB's Climate Project Portfolio and $1 to All At Once non-profit partners. Since 2001, Johnson's albums and tour profits have resulted in over $37 million donated to charity.
The tour next heads to Australia and New Zealand, opening with three nights at Riverstage in Brisbane starting November 6, then Kings Park in Perth, The Domain in Sydney, and Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, closing at Spark Arena in Auckland (Nov. 20) and Waipara (Nov. 22).
