100th FIM Six Days Enduro Opens in Portugal: Defending Champions Italy Lead After Day One

LISBON — The 100th edition of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (6DAYS®) is being held in Portugal this week. According to the event's official site on October 12, the opening day of competition ended with defending champions Italy leading the way, in what organisers described as an exciting start to the centenary edition.
The Six Days is one of the oldest off-road motorcycle team events in the world, often called the Olympics of motorcycling, with national squads competing for the World Trophy. This year's edition is the hundredth, hosted by Portugal over six days of long-distance endurance and speed tests in natural terrain.
Italy, the defending champions, had signalled their confidence ahead of the event on October 11. On October 10, the FIM family celebrated the centenary milestone in Portugal, and US rider Brandy Richards arrived aiming to break records at this year's 6DAYS.
Portugal has hosted a run of world-level motorcycle events in recent years. The destination of the World Trophy will be decided when all six days of competition are complete.
