Riverside's Castle Park to Close for Major Refurbishment Starting Nov. 2; Mini Golf and Arcade Stay Open

Riverside is a city in Riverside County, California. Riverside's historic Castle Park has announced it will temporarily close beginning November 2 for a major refurbishment. According to theme-park news site AllEars.Net, which reported the news on October 11, the park has not announced a reopening date for its rides section, but the mini golf course and arcade will remain open during the closure. The Buccaneer Cove water park section is still scheduled to reopen in May 2027 as originally planned.
In a statement on its website, Castle Park said the investment is meant to "create a reimagined experience for our guests and the Riverside community, building on the memories families have made here for years."
Castle Park was founded in 1976 by Bud Hurlbut, a theme park pioneer. According to KTLA, Hurlbut designed several early attractions at Knott's Berry Farm, including the Calico Mine Ride and the Timber Mountain Log Ride, and created the Liberty Bell replica hanging in Independence Hall at Knott's. Hurlbut, then in his 80s, sold Castle Park in 1999.
Last year, Herschend — the parent company behind Dollywood and Silver Dollar City — expanded into Southern California by acquiring Palace Entertainment's U.S. properties, including Castle Park, Raging Waters, and Boomers.
