Sacramento is a city in Sacramento County, California. The Sacramento Kings announced Sunday afternoon, Oct. 11, that center Maxime Raynaud suffered a right patellar subluxation and will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks, according to Reuters. The second-year big man will miss at least the start of the regular season.

Raynaud was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday night's preseason game against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center in San Francisco. He was setting a screen for teammate Darius Acuff Jr. on Warriors guard Stephen Curry when they collided with 2:32 left before halftime. The 7-foot-1 center yelled in pain, crumpled to the floor, and was helped up, placed in a wheelchair and taken to the locker room. The Kings announced in the third quarter he was out for the rest of the game. He underwent an MRI late Saturday and was seen leaving the arena on crutches.

Before the injury, Raynaud had 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block in nine minutes, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the field. Drafted by Sacramento in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft out of Stanford, the Paris native averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 74 games (56 starts) as a rookie, shooting 57.1% from the field and 32.4% from three, earning second-team All-Rookie honors. After the All-Star break he broke out, averaging 17.3 points and 9.2 rebounds.

With Raynaud sidelined, the Kings will lean more on Precious Achiuwa and Dylan Cardwell in reserve minutes behind starter Domantas Sabonis. Sacramento has two preseason games remaining before the regular season tips off.
