San Diego County Gas Prices Fall for Ninth Straight Day to $6.343 a Gallon

Monday, October 12, 2026 · City · GSM News

San Diego is a city in San Diego County, California. Gasoline prices in San Diego County fell for the ninth consecutive day. According to the Mission Times Courier, which reported the figures on October 11, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline dropped another cent on Saturday, October 10, to $6.343. Over the past nine days, local prices have fallen a total of 8.4 cents, including a 2-cent drop on Friday alone.

Despite the steady decline, San Diego County prices remain among the highest in the nation. California gasoline has long run above the national average, driven by higher taxes, cleaner-burning fuel formulations required by environmental standards, and tight refining capacity.

By contrast, prices in parts of the Midwest have fallen below $4 a gallon. Ohio this month suspended its state gasoline tax for 90 days, sending local prices below the $4 mark, while Colorado's governor signed an executive order temporarily easing fuel transportation and enforcement rules to stabilize prices.

Nine straight days of declines may be modest, but they have at least halted the recent upward trend. California's near-term price direction will hinge on refinery utilization and global crude prices.
