St. Louis City Routs LA Galaxy 6-2, Ties MLS Record With 20-Game Unbeaten Streak

St. Louis is an independent city in Missouri. St. Louis CITY SC defeated the LA Galaxy 6-2 on Sunday night, October 11, at Energizer Park, extending its unbeaten streak across all competitions to 20 games and tying the MLS record set by the New York Red Bulls in 2016.
Carlo Holse scored three goals in the first 21 minutes (2nd, 7th, 21st) for the second hat trick in club history — the second-fastest in MLS history, behind Hany Mukhtar's 16-minute treble in 2021. Rafael Navarro converted a penalty in the 45th minute, scored again in the 53rd and added two assists. Lukas MacNaughton scored on a diving header in the seventh minute of first-half stoppage time, and Roman Bürki made five saves.
For the Galaxy, Robert Taylor scored in the 31st minute and João Klauss in the 71st for his eighth goal of the season. Klauss, who joined the Galaxy from St. Louis this past offseason, made his first return to St. Louis as an opponent, entering in the 11th minute to a standing ovation. Kyōgo Furuhashi left with an apparent hamstring injury in the 10th minute.
“Yeah, we didn't start the game well,” Klauss said afterward. “I think less than a minute they had a chance, and then immediately we concede the first goal and the second goal.” Galaxy coach Greg Vanney added: “Certainly didn't go to plan.”
St. Louis (14-6-8, 50 points) is 13-0-5 in its last 18 regular-season games. Head coach Yoann Damet is a former Galaxy assistant. St. Louis hosts Vancouver on Wednesday; LA hosts Portland.
