Needles: Off-highway vehicle pilot and Route 66 centennial aim to boost tourism, mayor says in State of the City
Needles is a city in San Bernardino County, California. In her State of the City address, the mayor of Needles highlighted two tourism initiatives: an off-highway vehicle pilot program allowing UTVs on designated streets along a 9.2-mile route, giving riders access to surrounding Bureau of Land Management trails; and a Route 66 gateway arch funded by a $50,000 T-Mobile grant ahead of November centennial events.
The pilot is authorized by Assembly Bill 1756, carried by Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez, which the governor has signed to extend the pilot period.
