L3Harris Wins $250 Million Lockheed Martin Follow-On Contract; Rocket Motors to Be Built in Camden, Arkansas

CAMDEN, Ark. — Defense contractor L3Harris Technologies announced on Oct. 12 that it has won a $250 million follow-on contract from Lockheed Martin to manufacture propulsion units for the standard-range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS), according to Dow Jones Newswires.

The work will be performed at L3Harris's new 60,000-square-foot “Arsenal of Freedom” facility in Camden, Arkansas, which is scheduled to open later this year. The plant will centralize every stage of solid rocket motor production, using advanced automation and robotics to streamline manufacturing.

GMLRS is the U.S. military's primary precision-guided rocket munition, widely fielded on the HIMARS launcher system. Analysts say the follow-on award underscores continued Pentagon demand for domestic solid rocket motor capacity as precision munitions stockpiles are replenished.
