More Than 500,000 Florida Mail Ballots Already Returned; Democrats Lead by About 35,000

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — With three weeks to go before the November midterm elections, early voting is accelerating in Florida. According to an iHeart statewide news roundup on Oct. 12, more than 500,000 Floridians had already cast vote-by-mail ballots as of midday Sunday, Oct. 11, with Democrats returning 35,157 more ballots than Republicans.
Palm Beach County ranked second statewide with 47,804 ballots returned, only about 7,000 behind Miami-Dade County. In recent election cycles, Democrats have typically led during the mail-voting phase while Republicans have closed the gap in in-person early voting and on Election Day, leaving the final outcome open.
