Hyundai Transys to Invest Nearly $560 Million in West Point, Georgia, Creating 320 Jobs

ATLANTA — Hyundai Transys will invest nearly $560 million to expand its manufacturing capabilities in West Point, Georgia, creating 320 new jobs, Gov. Brian Kemp announced. The Hyundai Motor Group affiliate, which produces powertrain components and seating systems, is expanding to support its global automotive customers' operations in North America.
West Point, in western Georgia near the Alabama line, is a key node in the state's automotive corridor and is also home to Kia's Georgia assembly plant. State officials said the Transys expansion further strengthens the automotive supply-chain cluster anchored in the area.
The Kemp administration has made manufacturing recruitment a centerpiece of its economic development agenda. At nearly $560 million, the Transys project ranks among the state's largest manufacturing investments announced this year, with the 320 jobs to be added in phases as capacity comes online. The company did not release a detailed production timetable.
According to the governor's office, the investment will upgrade Hyundai Transys's two existing West Point plants and add a third plant, expanding hybrid-powertrain production. President Donald Trump also highlighted the investment at a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, on October 16, saying: "Hyundai just announced that it will invest $560 million to expand its factories in West Point, Georgia."
