LCSD to Screen Asian Para Games Live at Sports Centres in All 18 Districts, October 18–24

HONG KONG — The Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced on October 13 that it will set up dedicated live-screening sites at designated sports centres across Hong Kong's 18 districts to broadcast the 5th Asian Para Games, inviting members of the public to watch and cheer for the competing athletes.

The Asian Para Games will take place from October 18 to 24. On the opening day, October 18, the focal screening sites will open from 5pm to 8pm, and will then operate daily from 10am to 6pm until the end of the tournament. Details of the designated venues are available from the LCSD.

To raise public awareness and understanding of para sports, the department has also launched a series of videos on a dedicated website, featuring athletes and coaches explaining specific para sports and demonstrating key skills, so audiences can learn the rules and points of interest of different events before watching.

The 5th Asian Para Games follows the 20th Asian Games in Japan's Aichi–Nagoya region, and the Hong Kong, China team will compete in sports including athletics, swimming, wheelchair fencing and table tennis. The community screening arrangement mirrors the LCSD's approach during other major multi-sport events, bringing the Games to neighbourhood venues for residents who cannot travel to Japan, and taking para-sport promotion into the districts.

In addition to the sports-centre screenings, the Para Games will be carried on television and online platforms. The LCSD encourages residents to use the week-long tournament to support Hong Kong, China's para athletes and to learn more about their training and competition stories through the explainer videos.
