Menifee's Freedom Bridge Officially Opens: 365-Foot Span over Salt Creek Ends Bradley Road's Rainy-Day Closures

The City of Menifee, in Riverside County, California, held a ceremony on October 13 to celebrate the official opening of the Freedom Bridge on Bradley Road. The city said the bridge had already opened to traffic at 5 p.m. on October 1.
The Freedom Bridge is 365 feet long and spans Salt Creek. The $16 million project was fully funded through a combination of federal, state, county and local sources, including the City of Menifee's Quality of Life Measure, federal funds, the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, and the state Local Transportation Climate Adaptation Program (LTCAP). Formerly known as the Bradley Road Bridge over Salt Creek, the span was recently renamed the Freedom Bridge by the City Council, based on a recommendation from the city's Veterans and Military Families Advisory Committee, to honor the veteran and military community.
The city notes that Bradley Road at Salt Creek has a history of flooding that regularly forced the road to close during rain events, with motorists at times driving through moving water. The new bridge restores reliable north-south connectivity on Bradley Road and will help ensure faster response times for first responders. City materials show the bridge had been on the city's capital program since 2013, reaching completion after more than a decade of planning and construction.
