Polls Show Tight Minnesota Senate Race: Flanagan Leads Tafoya, Neither Above 50%

ST. PAUL — Minnesota's U.S. Senate race remains tight with just over three weeks until Election Day. A Star Tribune poll shows Democratic nominee Peggy Flanagan, the state's lieutenant governor, leading Republican Michele Tafoya by 4 points. A separate Rasmussen Reports survey of 856 likely voters conducted Oct. 5–7 put Flanagan ahead 48% to 45%, with 7% undecided and a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Neither candidate reached 50% in either poll, leaving undecided voters a potentially decisive role.

Tafoya has focused her campaign on fraud in social services during the administration of Gov. Tim Walz and Flanagan, arguing the lieutenant governor should be held accountable for failures in state oversight. Democrats report greater enthusiasm about voting than Republicans in the polling, while Tafoya faces a campaign funding disadvantage — challenges as she works to turn the fraud issue into a Republican victory in the state.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton endorsed Flanagan last Wednesday, her first endorsement in the 2026 congressional elections, according to Newsmax. Minnesotans will vote in the Senate race on Nov. 3, alongside the national midterm elections.
