Missouri Forward Annor Boateng Ruled Out for the Season; Gates Preaches Patience

Tuesday, October 13, 2026 · States · GSM News

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri men's basketball head coach Dennis Gates announced Sunday that small forward Annor Boateng will miss the entire 2026-27 season. Boateng slipped while going up for a dunk against Mississippi State on Jan. 31, was carried off on a stretcher and underwent surgery, missing the rest of last season; his recovery needs more time.

“Annor is out for the season,” Gates said after the team's pro day. “For him, it's just as patient as it needs to be. I don't need an update every day — I just need to make sure he's doing his rehabilitation and not trying to go too fast before he's cleared.” Boateng attended Sunday's event wearing a brace on his left leg and interacting with teammates.

The 6-foot-6 Boateng was the No. 26 recruit in the class of 2024, Missouri's highest-ranked signee since Michael Porter Jr. In two seasons he has appeared in 32 games with 11 starts, averaging 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 11.5 minutes before the injury. With his absence confirmed, the scholarship slots freed up were used to add Mark Mitchell and CJ Gunn.
