Federal and State Leaders to Visit Elk Creek Critical Minerals Mine Site; Oct. 14 Event to Be Livestreamed

Tuesday, October 13, 2026 · States · GSM News

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Export-Import Bank Chairman John Jovanovic, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, U.S. Sens. Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts and Rep. Adrian Smith will visit NioCorp's Elk Creek Critical Minerals Project site in southeast Nebraska on Wednesday, Oct. 14, the company announced Oct. 12.

The officials are expected to deliver remarks, tour construction underway at the mine site and receive briefings from company leadership on its planned critical mineral products. Because the site is an active construction area with strict safety and security requirements, the event is not open to the general public; it will be livestreamed starting at 12:30 p.m. CT.

NioCorp Executive Chairman and CEO Mark A. Smith said the company is proud of what it is building in Nebraska and looks forward to showing officials the progress on site and discussing what Elk Creek can mean for American critical mineral security, manufacturing and jobs.

The Elk Creek project is among the most closely watched domestic critical-minerals developments in the United States, and the joint federal-state visit underscores its profile in the national resource-security debate.
