Great California ShakeOut Tour Arrives at Sacramento State Today
Sacramento is a city in Sacramento County, California. The Great California ShakeOut tour, organized by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), arrived in Sacramento today, setting up near the Hornet Bookstore at Sacramento State, with public hours from 6 a.m. to noon. The centerpiece of the tour is an earthquake simulator 14 feet tall and 36 feet long, where visitors can experience simulated shaking of up to magnitude 7.0 and talk face to face with earthquake experts about preparedness.
The tour visits four California cities: San Francisco State on October 12, Sacramento State today, UCLA on October 14, and a finale at San Diego's Balboa Park on October 15. Organizers urge residents to remember the three steps of 'Drop, Cover, and Hold On,' and to check emergency supplies at home and secure large furniture in advance.
