Laguna Beach: Deep Crack in Bluff Below Coast Highway; Southbound Reduced to One Lane

Laguna Beach is a city in Orange County, California. Aerial footage released on October 13 showed a deep crack in the bluff below Pacific Coast Highway at El Morro, between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, about 10 feet from the roadway. Caltrans said southbound Highway 1 has been reduced to one lane, and State Parks has closed parts of Crystal Cove. Officials attributed the crack to months of erosion from powerful surf.
