Abbott Champions Texas Energy at University Lands Fireside Chat in Odessa

Texas Governor Greg Abbott championed the state's energy leadership and economic prosperity during a fireside chat at the University Lands Energy Forum in Odessa, his office announced on October 13. GSM previously published a preview of the forum; this is the governor's office release following the event. "Texas is more than a production hub, we are a stabilizing force for the nation," Abbott said. "Our growing, skilled workforce and innovative training programs make the Lone Star State the blueprint for economic success. The men and women of the Texas oil and gas industry are vital to our thriving economy as we build a stronger, more prosperous future for generations to come." According to the release, Texas is the world's eighth-largest economy, is home to 57 Fortune 500 headquarters, and its oil and gas industry supports 1.4 million jobs. Abbott also discussed education, transportation and border security. He was joined on stage by University Lands Advisory Board Chair and University of Texas System Regent Stuart Stedman and UT System Board of Regents Vice Chair Rad Weaver.
