Governor Abbott Announces Nearly $4 Million in Career and Technical Education Grants

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on October 13 nearly $4 million in career and technical education (CTE) grants through the Career Training Grants Program, administered by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and funded with U.S. Department of Education Perkins State Leadership money. The new funding brings total Perkins State Leadership Grant availability to $10 million. "Our young Texans are our future, and we must ensure they are prepared to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow," Abbott said. The expanded Perkins Leadership Grants replace the former Field Based Innovation Program and are open to Perkins-eligible entities from October 15 through November 16, 2026. Under Abbott, more than $1.1 billion has been invested in workforce training programs since 2015.
