Rep. Hageman Holds 88th Town Hall in Sheridan, Fields Questions on Public Lands and Immigration

SHERIDAN, Wyo. — U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman held a town hall in Sheridan recently, taking questions from constituents on public land management, immigration enforcement and Trump administration policies. Hageman said it was the 88th town hall she has held in nearly four years in office.
She opened by outlining her legislative priorities: federal deregulation, energy production, highway safety and government spending. In the Q&A, some attendees challenged her land management positions and questioned whether she represents Wyoming residents' interests, while others pressed her on immigration enforcement, inflation promises and international conflicts. Hageman responded that forest management decisions should be made through individual forest management plans, with local communities, ranchers and other stakeholders participating — not a one-size-fits-all approach from Washington.
The discussion also touched on Utah Sen. Mike Lee's earlier federal land proposal for housing development. Hageman said the proposal was part of a broad effort to privatize federal land, meant to identify limited areas near existing communities for housing, and pointed to Kemmerer, where surrounding federal land complicates local housing development.
