Tarantino to Join 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' Screening at AFI Fest on Oct. 23

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 13 — The American Film Institute announced on Tuesday that AFI FEST 2026 will present a special event, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood With Quentin Tarantino," featuring a screening of Tarantino's 2019 film followed by an in-person conversation with the director on Friday, October 23, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, MyNewsLA reported. The theatre hosted the film's U.S. premiere in 2019.
The event comes ahead of David Fincher's upcoming film "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," which revisits Brad Pitt's character from Tarantino's original. "As the world awaits the new film, AFI is proud to celebrate where it all began," AFI President and CEO Bob Gazzale said.
The 40th edition of AFI FEST runs October 21-25 at the TCL Chinese Theatres and will present 158 films from 50 countries, including six red carpet premieres, 12 special screenings and 45 films in the Short Film Competition. Of the official selections, 45 percent are directed by women and 32 percent by Black, Indigenous or filmmakers of color. The festival opens October 21 with the U.S. premiere of "Wildwood" and closes October 25 with "Being Heumann"; other red carpet premieres include "The Mosquito Bowl," "I Play Rocky" and "Ray Gunn."
