Rays Beat Guardians 3-1 in ALCS Game 2 to Even Series; Peralta Tosses Six Scoreless Innings

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 13 — Freddy Peralta tossed six scoreless innings to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series at Tropicana Field, evening the best-of-seven series at one game apiece, Reuters reported.
Peralta scattered four hits, struck out six and walked two in a 99-pitch outing. The game turned in the fourth inning, when Cleveland third baseman José Ramírez misplayed a routine grounder by Ben Williamson, allowing Victor Mesa Jr. to score the first run. On the next pitch, Liam Hicks lined a two-run single to right-center, plating Chandler Simpson and Williamson for a 3-0 lead.
Cleveland rookie Chase DeLauter ripped an RBI double in the seventh to trim the margin to 3-1, but left-hander Ian Seymour struck out Jo Adell with runners on second and third to end the inning, then retired the side in order in the eighth. All-Star closer Bryan Baker did the same in the ninth for his fourth save of the postseason. Game 3 is Thursday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
