HONG KONG, Oct. 14 — Asian shares inched higher on Wednesday as artificial-intelligence-related stocks found respite after a selloff, while elevated oil prices and caution ahead of U.S. inflation data tempered gains, Reuters reported.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.5 percent. South Korea's Kospi added 1.8 percent, with chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each up more than 2 percent, while Japan's Nikkei rose 0.2 percent and Kioxia was steady. U.S. stock futures were little changed, with S&P 500 e-minis up 0.04 percent at 7,858.8.

U.S. crude ticked up 0.8 percent to $94.96 a barrel and Brent crude rose to $106.6, amid concern over energy supplies. In another sign of risk aversion, longer-dated bonds rallied: the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield was steady at 5.221 percent after touching its lowest in nearly two weeks, and the 30-year yield held at 5.569 percent after a three-day decline. On Wall Street overnight, bank stocks lost ground after mixed quarterly earnings. Market participants were awaiting the U.S. consumer price index release later on Wednesday for clues on the Federal Reserve's rate outlook.
