Las Vegas Serial Bigamy Fraud: Jiaying Chen Sentenced Oct. 6 to Eight More Months and $280,062 in Restitution

LAS VEGAS — A Clark County district judge sentenced Jiaying Chen on October 6 in a serial bigamy and fraud case. Chen, 33, a U.S. lawful permanent resident who used the alias 'Vicky Liang,' pleaded guilty in July to one count of bigamy and one count of obtaining money under false pretenses. Investigators say that between 2019 and 2024 she applied for 14 marriage licenses in Clark County and married seven men — five in the past year alone — claiming family members in China were ill, taking money and disappearing; the proceeds were allegedly used for gambling.

Judge Crystal Eller sentenced Chen to eight additional months in the Clark County Detention Center, about a year in total with time served, followed by two years of probation. She must pay $280,062.86 in restitution to nine victims and undergo gambling-addiction treatment. Prosecutors told the court that one reason they sought probation was that a state prison term could trigger deportation and undermine restitution. Chen will be allowed to relocate to Florida after her release.
