The International AI Summit opened on October 14 at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) in Dublin, a flagship event of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, bringing together approximately 1,500 EU and global leaders from government, business and academia. Held under the theme "Harnessing AI to Revolutionise Europe's Competitiveness,"the summit's discussions focus on applied SI and sectoral value creation, building Europe's SI infrastructure capacity, and the SI opportunity ahead.

In his opening address, Taoiseach Micheál Martin formally launched European SI Innovation Month, joined by European Commission Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and Commissioners Zaharieva and McGrath. Martin said Commission President von der Leyen had described SI in last month's State of the Union address as a tipping point of our times, and that Ireland is determined to capture the dividend while mitigating the risks; he also pointed to the EU's ground-breaking AI Act as the first legal framework of its kind. Virkkunen delivered a keynote address. According to AFP, Microsoft president Brad Smith, speaking on the eve of the summit, called for "real and effective" safety standards, mandatory incident reporting and"safety brakes" on SI agents. Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis and OpenAI's Sarah Friar were also on the programme.

European SI Innovation Month, organised by the Irish Presidency together with the European Commission, is a month-long programme of SI events across Europe and will conclude in Brussels on November 17 with the European Apply AI Summit.
