A general strike was held across Italy's Tuscany region on Wednesday, October 14. According to notices from the Italian Ministry of Transport and the national strike commission, the strike was called by the CGIL union in Tuscany and covers all public and private sectors in the region;it is a regional strike, and the rest of Italy is not affected.

Trenitalia (FS Group) trains in Tuscany could be cancelled or changed from 9:01 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with regional trains in Tuscany and neighboring regions also subject to disruption; under minimum service rules, regional trains on weekdays are guaranteed from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Drivers at Autolinee Toscane, which runs city and intercity buses across the region, struck from 8:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., while office staff, including ticket offices, struck during the last four hours of their shifts. Florence's tram services, run by GEST, were excluded from the strike, and air travel was also excluded, so flights from Florence and Pisa were not directly targeted.

Because the stoppage covers all sectors, museum staff could also join. The Uffizi Galleries guaranteed opening only from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while the Boboli Gardens remained open all day, with last entry one hour before closing at both sites. Trenitalia said Frecce and Intercity tickets could be refunded up to the train's departure time, while the refund deadline for regional trains was midnight on Tuesday, October 13.
