Peru's private investment grew 15.5 percent in real terms in the first half of 2026, and the country's goods exports totaled US$83 billion between January and September, the highest figure ever recorded for that period, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) said at the 21st Meeting of the Chilean-Peruvian Business Council on October 13. Economy and Finance Minister Cuba said Peru is projected to reach US$100 billion in exports by year-end.

The meeting, organized by ComexPeru, was also attended by Foreign Minister Carlos Espa and Energy and Mines Minister Guillermo Shinno, and outlined investment opportunities in mining, energy and infrastructure to business leaders and investors. The MEF projects that Peru's economy will grow 3.4 percent in both 2026 and 2027, even amid risks associated with the El Niño phenomenon. Cuba emphasized that Peru has maintained its fiscal soundness despite political instability in recent years, and noted that business expectations regarding investment and hiring remain high.

Cuba also noted that Chile ranks third among foreign investors in Peru, with cumulative foreign direct investment of US$4.548 billion, equivalent to 13.3 percent of the total, concentrated mainly in mining, manufacturing and energy. He said informality affects around 90 percent of microenterprises outside Lima, and that the government's reform agenda includes expanding access to financing, improving public investment management and strengthening tax compliance.
