Hurricane Isaias Death Toll in Florida Rises to Six, DeSantis Confirms

The confirmed death toll from Hurricane Isaias in Florida has risen to six, Gov. Ron DeSantis told reporters on Oct. 13, according to Reuters.
Escambia County had previously reported two deaths. The four additional victims include a person killed in a crash at an intersection where traffic lights were out because of power failures, and two residents whose deaths were linked to interruptions in medical care.
Isaias made landfall in Florida's Panhandle region with strong winds, heavy rain and widespread outages. State officials and utilities have been working to restore power, and the state has announced loan assistance for affected residents and small businesses.
The state emergency management agency said search, rescue and damage assessment work is continuing, and the toll could change as confirmations proceed.
