The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) on Oct. 13 announced the local public hearing schedule for Missouri-American Water Company's general rate increase request, according to release PR-27-26 issued in Jefferson City. Five in-person hearings and two virtual hearings will be held starting Dec. 1, 2026, to receive customer comments and testimony.

On July 1, 2026, Missouri-American Water Company filed tariff sheets seeking a net increase in annual base rate revenues of approximately $191.9 million. The company said the request would equate to a water bill increase of about $23.00 per month for an average St. Louis County customer using 5,900 gallons per month, and about $15.00 per month for an average customer outside St. Louis County using 4,500 gallons per month.

The in-person hearings are scheduled for Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Governor State Office Building, Room 310, Jefferson City; Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Millennium Student Center, Century Room C; Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Plaster Free Enterprise Center, Cornell Auditorium; Dec. 8 at noon at the Branson RecPlex, Community Room C; and Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph City Hall, City Council Chambers. Each begins with a public information and question-and-answer session, followed by public testimony; speaking time may be limited.

Two virtual hearings will be held Dec. 17 at noon and 6 p.m. Written comments may be mailed to the PSC at P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102, or submitted through the Commission's online comment form at psc.mo.gov, referencing File No. WR-2026-0304. The Office of the Public Counsel, the state agency that represents the public in PSC matters, also accepts inquiries at 1-866-922-2959.
