Trump Again Endorses Ohio Sen. Husted in Truth Social Post; Senate Vote Set for Nov. 3

President Donald Trump on Oct. 14 again endorsed Ohio U.S. Sen. Jon Husted in a post on his Truth Social platform. "AGAIN, JON HUSTED HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" Trump wrote in the post.
The post focused on Husted's years as a football player. Trump said Husted was an "ALL AMERICAN FOOTBALL PLAYER" who played safety at the University of Dayton and once recorded 17 interceptions in a single season, a record. Trump said Husted's playing made Jon Gruden and his teammates proud and helped Dayton win many games that were said to be unwinnable, and that Husted would be even better in politics than he was at football.
Trump also named Husted's Democratic opponent, former Sen. Sherrod Brown, saying Brown was "thrown out by the people three years ago" and lost to now-Sen. Bernie Moreno, and he urged Ohio voters to vote for Husted.
Husted was appointed to the Senate in early 2025 to fill the seat vacated by Vice President JD Vance and must win the 2026 election to keep it. Ohio's U.S. Senate election will be held Nov. 3, alongside the midterm elections. GSM previously reported Trump's Oct. 3 rally in Vandalia and Oct. 12 rally in Youngstown, where he campaigned for Husted and other Republican candidates.
