Champions League Matchday 2: Tresoldi Hat-Trick Fires Club Brugge to 4-3 Upset at Inter; Bayern Held 3-3, Barcelona and Arsenal Win

Club Brugge stunned Inter Milan 4-3 at San Siro on Tuesday on Champions League matchday two, as Nicolo Tresoldi scored a hat-trick on a night of scares for Europe's heavyweights, Reuters reported on October 13. Bayern Munich were held 3-3 at Viking Stavanger, while Barcelona recovered to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul.
Tresoldi, who had already hit the post, put Brugge ahead with a penalty around the half-hour mark after Hakan Calhanoglu fouled Carlos Forbs. Lautaro Martinez equalised before halftime. After the break, a misunderstanding between Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez and his defence allowed Forbs to knock the ball through the keeper's legs, leaving Tresoldi to tap into an empty net; Tresoldi completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute. Martinez's second goal seven minutes later revived Inter's hopes, but Romeo Vermant made it 4-2 in the 87th minute, and Ange-Yoan Bonny's reply deep into added time was scant consolation.
Bayern fought back from two goals down to lead in Norway, but Michael Olise's dismissal left them exposed and Herman Johan Haugen struck in added time to earn Viking a 3-3 draw; Bayern's goals came from Harry Kane (including a penalty) and Luis Diaz. Barcelona overturned a first-half deficit with Lamine Yamal supplying two assists. Atletico Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0, with Barrios scoring after just 50 seconds and United's Leny Yoro sent off, while Arsenal scored three times in seven second-half minutes through Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka to defeat Lille 3-0.
Elsewhere: Villarreal beat Napoli 3-1, RB Leipzig edged PSV Eindhoven 1-0, Sporting CP won 2-0 at Lens for a second straight victory, and Azerbaijani side Sabah beat Slavia Prague 2-0. Arsenal, Barcelona and Sporting CP each have six points from two matches.
