University of Utah Health Approved to Acquire About 14 Acres in Salt Lake City for New Redwood Health Center

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 · States · GSM News

University of Utah Health received approval, following a vote by the University of Utah Board of Trustees, to acquire approximately 14 acres of land from Larry H. Miller Real Estate in Salt Lake City's Power District, where it plans to build a new Redwood Health Center, the health system announced on October 13.

The property, at 50 N. Redwood Road between Interstate 80 and North Temple, will be used to replace the existing Redwood Health Center at 1525 W. 2100 South. U of U Health said the existing center will continue serving patients throughout the transition, and that the new facility will create a larger, more modern health care destination for residents of Salt Lake City's west side.

Gina Hawley, chief operating officer of U of U Health Hospitals and Clinics, said the project is an opportunity to reimagine care for an important community in the Salt Lake Valley and to design a health center around the needs of today's patients, families and care teams. Brad Holmes, president of Larry H. Miller Real Estate, called the Redwood Health Center an important investment in Salt Lake City's west side.

Planning for the new center is still in its early stages, and details on construction, services, operations and an anticipated opening date will be shared as they are finalized. U of U Health is Utah's only academic health care system, with 12 community clinics, five hospitals and more than 27,000 employees.
