Trump Pardons Three Alaska Mechanics at Wasilla Rally Over 2022 Emissions Case

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 · White House · GSM News

WASILLA, Alaska, Oct. 13 — President Donald Trump announced pardons for the three owners of an Anchorage-area vehicle repair business during a campaign rally on Tuesday at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla, Alaska, USA Today reported. The rally was part of a western swing in support of Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections.

Trump brought two of the owners of Arm Rippin Toys, Inc., Zachary Czubak and Patrick Fleming, onto the stage and said a third co-owner, Michael Hanzuk, was also covered, signing documents handed to him by an aide and granting what he called an unconditional pardon for each of the three men. Trump told the crowd the men had been convicted "because they fixed an engine."

According to a 2022 Justice Department statement from the Biden era, the company's owners and employees falsified, tampered with and rendered inaccurate federally mandated emissions monitoring devices and removed required pollution controls on at least 37 diesel vehicles between July 2019 and September 2020, collecting about $100,000 for the service. The owners pleaded guilty in 2022 to one count of violating the Clean Air Act; Hanzuk and Czubak were sentenced to five years of probation and community service and ordered to pay a $66,000 fine.
