Germany's September Inflation Confirmed at 3.3 Percent

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · World News · GSM News

BERLIN — Germany's inflation rate for September was confirmed at 3.3 percent, according to European economic data compiled by Reuters on October 14. The same compilation projected that Germany's debt-to-GDP ratio will rise to around 78.25 percent by 2030. Inflation and fiscal figures were among the focal points for European markets that day, as chip-stock losses dragged European shares lower.

Finance Minister Klingbeil, speaking around a G20 meeting, said it was worrying that the United States is opening itself to Russia again, according to the compilation. The remark came as Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak said talks between the Russian and U.S. governments were under way to ensure diesel supplies, and that a number of Russian refineries had completed maintenance. European Central Bank officials commented the same day that they saw no role for ECB intervention on France at present and no second-round inflation effects yet.

Separately, Germany's Lufthansa Group won the bidding in the privatisation of Portugal's flag carrier TAP, in a decision announced by the Portuguese government on October 14, with the transaction still subject to regulatory approval. Details of Lufthansa's offer were released by the Portuguese side.
