Washington — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on October 15 posted a new batch of product recalls and safety warnings covering electric pressure cookers, air fryer ovens, thermal laminators, air rifles, bedside sleepers, children's coin purses, portable bed rails and other household and children's products. A 6-quart electric pressure cooker made by Tristar Products was flagged for immediate stop-use over a risk of hot contents being expelled unexpectedly, covering about 393,000 units, while 3M is recalling about 53,634 Scotch brand thermal laminators over a fire hazard. The CPSC announced the actions in Washington, with full notices posted on its website.

According to the CPSC, the agency has received 24 reports involving the Tristar Power Quick Pot 6-quart pressure cooker, in which hot contents were expelled unexpectedly, resulting in serious burn injuries. Because the company has not agreed to a recall, the CPSC issued a product safety warning urging consumers to stop using the cooker immediately. Also subject to a stop-use warning the same day was the Kalorik MAXX air fryer oven with French doors; the CPSC said it is aware of dozens of reported burns, including at least one report of scarring consistent with a second-degree burn.

Among the cooperative recalls, 3M's Scotch thermal laminators cover about 53,634 units; the company has received 63 reports of the laminators smoking, melting and overheating, including five reports of fire and one report of minor property damage, with no injuries reported. HatsanUSA is recalling about 16,170 Blitz air rifles after one report of an accidental misfire, and Loving Thyself Rocks is recalling about 600 crystal glass cups after one report of broken glass found inside a cup while drinking.

For children's and household products, Papablic is recalling about 248 convertible bedside sleepers that violate the mandatory standard for play yards, posing entrapment, suffocation and fall hazards; Primark is recalling about 2,100 "101 Dalmatians" faux leather children's coin purses over phthalate levels and a risk of ingestion; and usOpal is recalling about 200 Xalirium portable bed rails that violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails, posing entrapment and asphyxiation risks. The CPSC also warned consumers to stop using bblüv high chairs, which violate the mandatory standard for high chairs and pose entrapment and fall hazards, and dressers made by Henan Senka, about 235 units, which violate the mandatory standard for clothing storage units and pose tip-over and entrapment risks. Apart from the pressure cooker and air fryer oven warnings, no injuries were reported for the other items in this batch.

The CPSC said consumers can check model details, sellers and remedies for each recall and warning at cpsc.gov, report a dangerous product at SaferProducts.gov, or call the agency's hotline at 800-638-2772. Federal law prohibits the sale of products subject to a Commission-ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
