Monterey Park Police Win $220,500 in State Traffic Safety Grants

MONTEREY PARK, Los Angeles County — The Monterey Park Police Department has received two grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety totaling $220,500 for road safety programs running through September 2026.
A $192,000 grant funds a speeding and reckless driving program, including enhanced enforcement, community education and traffic safety equipment. A $28,500 grant supports a bicycle and pedestrian safety program with safety classes, community outreach, helmet distribution and enforcement.
The police chief said speeding and reckless driving are among the leading causes of serious traffic collisions, and that cyclists and pedestrians are the most vulnerable road users the programs are meant to protect.
