Nebraska Gov. Pillen Signs Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · States · GSM News

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen on Oct. 15 signed the Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud, joining Vice President J.D. Vance and other officials in backing the anti-fraud effort the federal government launched earlier this year. The governor's office announced the signing in a release issued from Lincoln that evening (9:18 p.m. CT).

Vance unveiled the six-point pledge on Oct. 15. Its commitments include protecting the elderly and other vulnerable people from fraud, stopping fraudulent payments before they are made, preventing fraudsters from using public funds for luxury purchases, prosecuting fraudsters, and arresting and deporting noncitizens convicted of fraud.

The Republican Governors Association said 22 Republican governors, including Pillen, have signed the pledge. President Trump previously designated Vance to lead the federal government's anti-fraud work, supported by an interagency task force that coordinates efforts to detect and stop improper payments.
