ASML Reports Third-Quarter Results, Says Planned Supply May Not Meet Demand in 2027-2028

EINDHOVEN — Dutch lithography giant ASML reported third-quarter results with earnings of €12.95 per share, above expectations of €11.14, and revenue of €11.7 billion, slightly below the €11.8 billion expected, according to a European markets roundup on October 14-15. ASML said it now expects that its supply, as currently planned for both 2027 and 2028, will not fully meet the demand of its customers.
The same roundup put the Netherlands' September unemployment rate at 4.0 percent, unchanged from the prior reading. Press reports also said the EU was reportedly set to lift a sanction on a Chinese firm to save an ASML supplier; the reports were not officially confirmed. ASML, headquartered in Veldhoven, is the world's largest maker of semiconductor lithography equipment, a critical link in advanced chip manufacturing.
ASML's results came as global chip stocks went through a sell-off: in Asian trading on October 15, South Korean and Japanese semiconductor shares fell sharply, with hotter-than-expected U.S. September inflation data cited by markets as part of the backdrop.
