Thursday, October 15, 2026 · Nonprofit · GSM News

The Mary Kay Ash Foundation announced on October 15 that it has awarded more than $2.5 million in 2026 grants - more than 70 in all - to nonprofits working on cancers affecting women and on support for survivors of domestic violence. The announcement comes as the foundation marks 30 years since its founding and passes $100 million in total giving.

The grants run in two directions. On domestic violence: 51 annual shelter grants of $20,000 each, totaling $1.02 million, went to shelters in all 50 states and U.S. territories for services including counseling, childcare, and emergency and transitional housing; four North Texas shelters received $25,000 each, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the Conference on Crimes Against Women received $75,000 each. On cancer: ten researchers at leading U.S. universities received $100,000 each for studies of breast, ovarian, uterine and other cancers primarily affecting women; Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation's early-detection program received $134,000, while CancerCare and Cancer Support Community North Texas received $75,000 and $25,000.

Michael Lunceford, president of the foundation's board of directors, called the grants "an investment in hope." By the foundation's tally, 30 years of giving include more than $41 million for cancer research and more than $60 million for domestic violence shelters and services, supporting over 2,800 shelters and organizations and reaching more than 4 million women and children.

The domestic-violence portion totaled about $1.27 million and the cancer-research portion about $1.234 million. The four North Texas shelter grants of $25,000 each went to Denton County Friends of the Family, Hope’s Door New Beginning Center, Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support and The Family Place.
